2019 Eclipse Cross Earns Top Safety Pick Rating
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, is a reliable and trusted source for vehicle safety ratings. Rather than using a standard five-star scale to rate vehicles, the IIHS determines the safety of a car using words like “Acceptable” or “Good” in a variety of crash tests. They then use those ratings to give out the titles of Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+. For the 2019 model year, Eclipse Cross safety ratings earned the crossover the title of Top Safety Pick.
When equipped with available headlights and front crash prevention technology, the 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross safety tests yielded a rating of “good” in all six categories — driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint test. The front crash prevention tech earned the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross a rare “Superior” rating.
With features like LED headlights, a blind-spot warning system, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross’ safety systems provide plenty of reassurance and confidence for modern drivers and their families. If you’re interested in learning more about the exact model that earned top honors from the IIHS, look into the SEL trim equipped with Forward Collision Mitigation, which automatically applies brakes when it senses imminent collisions.
